I heard that. And you know, I've learned something-- [He's gearing up for one of his motivational speeches.] -- sometimes life is cruel, and lonely. More than sometimes, actually. And for long stretches of time. BUT if you're willing to put yourself out there and don't put an expectation on what form it'll take, you'll usually meet someone you can connect with.

It must be my emotional development that's the catch.

(He's smirking until he's not because fuck Kyle for being so considerate.)

No. Not compared to you I don't. I know normal loneliness, where you see people but don't connect to them. But it's not the same and I won't insult you by saying it is.

(Dirk doesn't answer right away. He watches the show for a few more minutes, mulling over the subject carefully.)

[Kyle smiles, not that Dirk can see it.]

(Ironically, he's too shy to say much after that. Besides, they are almost at the end of the show and he wants the punch to hit.

[Did Kyle sniffle a little during the end there? Maybe. Shut up.

He clears his throat.]

Yeah. Yeah, I did. You were right.

(He absolutely cannot blame Kyle for sniffing a little. It was gutwrenching.)
